1. Who we are
Scoutline (“Scoutline”, “we”, “us”) provides a subscription service that finds local businesses without a working website, scores them, and generates preview websites and draft outreach emails for them.
Scoutline is a trading name of Ehan Abrar, a sole trader based in Aberdeen, Scotland. There is no limited company, so there is no company number to give.
The fastest way to reach us is the form on our contact page. For formal or legal notices, email legal@scoutline.uk and a postal address will be provided on request.
2. Definitions
- Service
- The Scoutline website, the signed-in interface, and everything they produce.
- You / Subscriber
- The person or business holding a Scoutline account.
- Lead
- A record of a business identified by the Service, together with its score and the reasons for that score.
- Preview site
- A single-page website generated for a specific business and hosted by us at a public URL.
- Full site
- A multi-page website generated for a specific business and delivered to you as a downloadable archive.
- ScoutCoin
- The unit by which site generation is metered. One ScoutCoin generates one preview site; a full site costs three.
- Territory
- A geographic area which, on plans that include them, can be locked so that no other subscriber may claim leads within it.
- Business owner
- The third-party business a lead refers to. They are not a party to this agreement.
3. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and “you” means that organisation.
4. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for keeping your password secure. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.
- One account is for one subscriber. Sharing credentials so that several people use a single subscription's allowances is a breach of these terms.
- You must give accurate account information and keep it current.
5. What Scoutline does
The Service:
- searches third-party business listings for businesses with no website, a dead website, or only a social-media or directory presence;
- scores those businesses on how good a prospect each one is, and records the reasons;
- generates a preview website for a business you have claimed, and hosts it at a public URL so it can be shown to that business;
- generates a full multi-page website, delivered to you as a downloadable archive;
- drafts an outreach email you can review, edit and send yourself.
6. What Scoutline does not do
This section is as important as the one above.
- We do not send anything to anyone on your behalf. There is no send function in the Service. Every outreach email is a draft that you review and send from your own systems.
- We do not contact the business owner. No business is told a preview site exists unless you tell them.
- We do not guarantee results. We make no promise about replies, conversions, sales, or the commercial value of any lead.
- We do not verify the facts in a listing. Ratings, review counts, phone numbers and trading status come from third-party data which may be out of date or wrong.
- We do not act as your agent, and nothing in this agreement creates a partnership, joint venture or employment relationship.
7. Plans, ScoutCoins and allowances
Each plan carries monthly allowances for discovering businesses, claiming them, and generating sites. Current allowances and prices are shown on the pricing page, which is the authoritative statement of what your plan includes.
- Allowances reset at the start of each billing period. Unused allowance does not roll over and has no cash value.
- Generating a site consumes ScoutCoins at the point the generation succeeds. A generation that fails because of an error on our side, or an outage at our AI provider, does not consume a ScoutCoin.
- Re-generating a site for a business you have already generated for consumes a further ScoutCoin, because it is a further generation.
- We enforce allowances on our servers. Any figure shown in the interface is a convenience, not the limit itself.
8. Territories and exclusivity
Some plans include territories. Locking a territory means that, for as long as you hold it, no other Scoutline subscriber may claim leads inside it.
- Territory exclusivity applies within Scoutline only. It gives you no rights over the area, its businesses, or anyone else's activity in it. Other people — including businesses not using Scoutline — remain free to approach the same businesses.
- Locking a territory is always an explicit choice and consumes a territory allowance.
- Releasing a territory gives up the right to claim new leads there. It does not un-assign leads you have already claimed.
- Where a plan has both a holding cap and a monthly rate, both apply.
9. Payment and renewal
- Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until cancelled.
- Prices are in pounds sterling. Any other currency shown on the site is an approximate conversion for information only; you are charged in pounds.
- Scoutline is not currently VAT-registered and does not charge VAT. If that changes we will say so before it takes effect.
- If a payment fails we may suspend access until it is resolved.
- We may change prices. A change will not affect the period you have already paid for, and we will give notice before it applies to a renewal.
10. Cancelling and refunds
- You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not shorten the period you have paid for.
- We do not generally refund part-used periods, because allowances are consumed as you go and the underlying costs are incurred when you use them.
- If you are a consumer with statutory cancellation rights, nothing here removes them. Note that by generating a site you are asking us to begin supplying digital content immediately, which affects those rights.
- If something goes wrong at our end and you have lost paid-for allowance because of it, contact us — we would rather fix it than argue about it.
11. Your duties when contacting businesses
This is the most important section in this document. Read it.
Scoutline produces lead lists and draft emails. You decide who to contact, and you send the message. That makes you the sender in law, and responsible for it.
- You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to your outreach, including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the UK GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- PECR treats sole traders and unincorporated partnerships as individuals for electronic-marketing purposes, not as corporate subscribers. Much of this market is sole traders. The consent and opt-out rules that apply to marketing individuals may therefore apply to a large share of the leads the Service produces.
- Every draft the Service produces carries a compliance reminder. That reminder is a prompt, not legal advice, and not a defence.
- You must give a clear way to opt out, honour opt-outs promptly, and identify yourself accurately as the sender.
- You must not present a generated site as the business's own work, as something they commissioned, or as endorsed by us or by them.
- If you are unsure whether your intended outreach is lawful, take advice before sending. We cannot give it.
You agree to indemnify us against claims, penalties and costs arising from outreach you send.
12. AI-generated content
Preview and full sites are produced by large language models from a small set of facts about the business — name, trade, town, phone number, rating, review count and photo count.
- The system is instructed not to invent services, prices, certifications, years in business, staff names or testimonials, and to mark anything it does not know as a visible placeholder. Each generation ships with a private brief listing those placeholders.
- These are constraints, not guarantees. Language models can produce inaccurate output. You must read what has been generated before you show it to anyone.
- You are responsible for what you send. Once you forward a generated site to a business, you are publishing it.
- Do not remove or paper over a placeholder without confirming the real answer with the business.
- We do not warrant that generated content is unique, or that it does not resemble other output.
13. Data about third-party businesses
- Lead data originates from third-party listing providers and is subject to their terms, including limits on how long it may be cached. We purge aged detail accordingly, which means a lead's detail may disappear from your dashboard over time.
- Preview sites are hosted with search indexing disabled, so a preview cannot compete with the real business in search results.
- Takedown: if a business asks us to remove a preview site generated about them, we will remove it, and we do not require them to explain why. Requests come through the contact page.
- You must not use the Service to build a general-purpose database of businesses for resale.
14. Intellectual property
- The Service, the Scoutline name, the mark, and the software behind them remain ours.
- As between you and us, you own the generated site files we deliver to you, and you may modify them and pass them to your client. This does not affect anyone else's rights — for example, in photographs you supply or in the business's own trade marks.
- Any photographs, text or other material you upload for a full-site build remain yours. Photographs are assembled in your browser and are not uploaded to us.
- You grant us the limited licence needed to operate the Service — for example, to host a preview site at a public URL so you can show it to the business.
15. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, deceptive, harassing or defamatory;
- generate sites for businesses you have no genuine intention of approaching, in order to exhaust another subscriber's opportunity;
- misrepresent your identity, or imply an association with Scoutline that does not exist;
- attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the Service, or circumvent allowances, rate limits or territory exclusivity;
- resell raw lead data as a data product;
- use the Service to target individuals rather than businesses.
16. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available but do not promise uninterrupted access. It depends on third-party providers — hosting, listings data, AI models, payments and email — and any of them can fail.
We may change, add or remove features. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will give reasonable notice, and you may cancel.
17. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that:
- The Service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it is error-free, that lead data is accurate, or that generated content is fit for any particular purpose.
- We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- We are not liable for the consequences of outreach you send, or of content you publish, including a generated site you pass on without checking.
- Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
18. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time.
We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if your use puts the Service or other subscribers at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
On termination your allowances end. Territories you hold are released and become available to others. Generated files already downloaded remain yours; preview sites we host may be taken down.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version and date at the top of this page always tell you which version is current. Where a change materially affects your rights we will give notice before it takes effect, and continuing to use the Service after that counts as acceptance.
20. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. Scoutline is operated from Aberdeen, so that is the law and the forum that actually apply to us.
If you are a consumer rather than a business, this does not take away the protections of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in — those apply regardless of what this section says.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
